On 29/7/2025 the dream became reality. The Iraqi Council of Ministers has officially approved Baghdad British International School as a licensed international school following the British curriculum. What began with hope, and was built with faith, patience, and persistence, has now been formally recognised at the national level.
BBIS is the first internationally accredited British school in Iraq—offering the IGCSE curriculum. Located on Airport Road, BBIS brings together a top-tier international faculty and the region's first school-based AI & Robotics Center.

Study Stages at BBIS
At BBIS, we provide a comprehensive and structured learning journey based on the British education system, designed to meet the needs of students from early childhood through to pre-university level.
1. Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Our Early Years programme is built on the British EYFS framework, which encourages learning through play, exploration, and guided discovery. Children develop foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, and social interaction.
Key focus areas: Language and communication, Personal and social development, Physical development, Early literacy and numeracy, Creative and expressive play
2. Primary School (Key Stages 1 & 2)
Primary education at BBIS follows the British National Curriculum, focusing on academic development, creativity, and character building. Subjects are taught in an engaging and interactive way.
Subjects include: English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, ICT, Arabic, and Art
3. Secondary School (Key Stage 3)
Students deepen their understanding across a broader range of subjects, laying the groundwork for future specialization. Learning is inquiry-based, with growing expectations for independent thinking.
Subjects include: English Language and Literature, Mathematics, Sciences, History, Geography, ICT, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence
4. IGCSE Programme (Key Stage 4)
Students prepare for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), a globally recognized qualification that provides excellent preparation for A-Levels.
Core subjects: English, Mathematics, Sciences. Electives: Business Studies, ICT, Computer Science, Art, and more
5. Pre-University Pathways (Key Stage 5 / Sixth Form)
BBIS plans to launch its Sixth Form soon, offering A-Level qualifications. This stage prepares students for top global universities through advanced, subject-focused study.

AI & Robotics Center
BBIS is proud to host the region's first school-based AI & Robotics Center. We are pioneering the integration of artificial intelligence and robotics education starting from kindergarten, preparing our students for the future of technology.
Our AI Summer Camp program runs from July 15 - August 15, 2025, offering hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology. Students learn programming, robotics, and artificial intelligence concepts through engaging, age-appropriate activities.
